There are always fun pickleball events going on in the Klamath Basin. In each of these events, countless examples of friendship, sportsmanship, team spirit, and expert plays are demonstrated. This was a first for KBPA! Due to the restrictions in place during Phase 2 Reopening in the era of Covid-19, a new type of tournament was scheduled at Steen Sports Park for the weekend of July 10-12.
Klamath County players registered for the tournament without a partner. Then a special gathering took place Friday evening where names were drawn and players learned who their partners would be for the tournament.

Congratulations to all 52 players who were brave enough to try this fun new format! Thanks go out to the event organizers, Cheryl Pocock and Nancy Pratt; and to the event director, Kathy Rambousek from Pickleball is Great (PIG).
The tournament was sponsored by Pacific Crest Federal Credit Union, Fisher Nicholson Realty, Isler Group, Greg and Carlie Cunningham, Franklin Balls and KOA Campgrounds, and Edward Jones Investments. Be sure to thank these generous local businesses and friends!

Thursday, June 20th, 2019 at 8am, ground was broken at Steen Sports Park, initiating the construction project of brand new KBPA pickleball courts. Here are photos from the ceremony. Keep in touch here for more photos and updates on the project up to its completion!
